FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

When was Decision Sciences founded?

Decision Sciences was founded in August, 2005.

What does Decision Sciences do?

Decision Sciences is an advanced security and detection systems company based in Poway, California. Decision Sciences mitigates the worldwide threat of nuclear WMD proliferation by developing passive cargo scanning systems capable of accurately detecting shielded and unshielded nuclear threats.

What is Decision Sciences’ game-changing product?

Decision Sciences has created a Multi-Mode Passive Detection System, MMPDS, that accurately detects shielded and unshielded nuclear threats using passive interrogation methods.  Decision Sciences' MMPDS is positioned to improve the safety, effectiveness and efficiency of cargo scanning operations around the globe. We are currently accelerating engineering, production and manufacturing efforts to fulfill this urgent global requirement.

Decision Sciences is currently designing the MMPDS to detect Special Nuclear Material hidden within cargo shipping containers. Subsequently, Decision Sciences will expand the MMPDS’s capabilities and adapt the product for use in other market sectors including rail, air cargo and land borders.

What is Decision Sciences’ target market?

Decision Sciences has two primary markets; the global transportation industry and domestic and international government agencies responsible for security, including the U.S. Departments of Homeland Security and Defense.

What are the benefits of Decision Sciences' MMPDS Scanner?

  • Provides maritime terminal operators with an effective means to prevent a nuclear disruption within the global supply chain, addressing both risk mitigation and cost minimization issues.
  • Enables international marine terminal operators to meet U.S. Congressional mandates of HR-1 and the Safe Port Act to scan 100% of cargo containers shipped to the United States by 2012.
  • Enables other entities including border and customs personnel, security forces, and municipalities to effectively and efficiently scan containers and vehicles for nuclear threats.

What is the status of Decision Sciences' Intellectual Property?

Decision Sciences formed a Cooperative Research and Development Agreement (CRADA) with Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) to develop muon tomography technology. The Company has negotiated an exclusive world-wide license for all commercialization of the related LANL-owned patents and the LANL/Decision Sciences jointly-developed Intellectual Property. We have also developed significant Decision Sciences-exclusive proprietary Intellectual Property, which significantly enhances the value of our technology portfolio.
